One of the parts of being here that I enjoy is listening to your stories of growing up either in town or in other parishes in Hudson County, Newark, New York (Long Island, Staten Island), and other places. What usually comes up is parishioners’ desires to do what they did when they were growing up: getting together, having parish activities like carnivals, parish feasts and lots of other activities. What I believe people are telling me is that they want the opportunity to make our parish their home. Isn’t that what we experienced the weekend of my installation as pastor? Everyone commented that the energy was high: there was something GREAT about getting together and being together. I know that is what I enjoy every time I am invited to a parishioner’s home for dinner. Other family members or neighbors or friends who are parishioners get together and we have a great time just being together.
Well, it’s time for us to start that on a large scale here at Little Flower. I think we need to ride on the wave of the energy of my installation and start doing things together: fun things, family things, times to just be together.
This weekend you will hear me talk about my vision for us as a parish. But, I NEED YOU. THE PARISH NEEDS YOU. Fill out the form on this page today, this week. Don’t let it get lost on the kitchen table or in the car. Let’s together start to create a parish that we want to be proud of. Let’s make our parish a community of faith and a place to connect that makes us proud.
