EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION
The role of an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (Eucharistic Minister) is very important to our parish community. Eucharistic Ministers assist the priest celebrant with the distribution of Communion at Sunday and daily Masses. They bring Communion to hospitals, nursing homes and to the sick and homebound in the parish.
Fully-initiated Catholics, age 18 and over, are eligible to be considered for this ministry. There is a mandatory preparation program.

A Prayer for Special Ministers of Holy Communion
Lord, Jesus Christ,
You are the Word of God
and the Bread of Life.
Help me to bring your Gospel message
and Eucharistic Presence to others.
Help me to do so
with faith and reverence,
with love and concern.
May I carry out this sacred ministry
comfortably, but not casually;
relaxed, yet with awesome respect.
All praise to You,
the God who is, who was
and who is to come. Amen.
Reminders for Eucharistic Ministers:
1. With reverence for the Blessed Sacrament, return to the Tabernacle with the Hosts first. If the ciborium is not there, THEN go to get it. Do not attempt to fill your hands/arms with the Blessed Sacrament and empty ciborium.
2. Genuflect when you leave the Tabernacle. You are models of prayer and behavior for the congregation.
3. Please arrange for a substitute if you are not able to serve as EM on your assigned date. Let the sub know your assigned position.
Reflection Questions:
What do you find most rewarding about your ministry?
What do you find most challenging about your ministry?
What concerns would you like to see addressed?
Share your heart!
